LCHS
Chamber
music summer program had its first recital for the school
year on 9/18 in the Chapter room, at Marguerite Gardens.
We will
have Chamber Music Program during the 2010/11 semester year. Updates will
be posted here once we have formed a clear plan with music teachers.
This summer, three new groups with 11 students
were formed and matched by our music teachers. The Chamber Music Program
Coordinators made sure the students felt comfortable with the group they were in
and that they had received the music assigned by Ms. Speltz.
Each ensemble group has an "ensemble captain"
invited by the coordinators. The ensemble captains organize practice schedule,
venue, and oversee the learning needs of their own group. All three groups were
coached by professional musicians. Coordinators organize performances for these
groups when they feel they are ready. One group performed at the Flintridge
Book Store at the end of the summer.
The string quartet, Sunrise, has been coached by Ms. Speltz during the 2009/10
semester year. They performed at the Flintridge Book Store and they also won
first place at the Satori music competition in string quartet category in the
beginning of the summer.
The La
Canada High School Music Parents Association held an inaugural event, a chamber
music master class mentored by Brad Keimach, for the Chamber Music Program at La
Canada High School Instrumental Music Program, Tuesday evening, April 20, 2010.
