Friday, September 7th
The 9-12 Band and Guard always enjoy welcoming the 7/8 Band students for this event. It’s a busy, but fun night.
7/8 students will be rehearsing with the High School students at 5pm, will eat with them, and then perform with them at the Boosters tailgate, on the field during pre-game, and in the stands during the first half of the game. After the High School students perform their show at half-time, the 7/8 students will return to the band room with Mr. Myers and will be dismissed. The students may return to the game with parents if you choose or may go home.
The 7/8 students are voting on their t-shirt design this week and t-shirts will be distributed prior to next Friday evening.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Looking forward to a great evening!

L.A. County Fair Parade
Wednesday, September 5th
We will need several parent volunteers to help with getting to/from the L.A. County Fair by riding the bus, as well as pluming, gauntleting, etc. when at the fair.
We will be leaving the High School at 11am and will return at 8:30pm. Please let Sandy know if you are available and interested. It’s a fun day!
There are instruments available for rental throughout the year. The string instruments have all been recently refurbished and are ready to go. For Band rentals, please contact Mr. Stone or Mr. Myers. For String rentals, please contact Ms. Munday.
Rental procedure for string instruments:
- Talk with Ms. Munday, Mr. Myers, or Mr. Stone to make arrangements to check out an instrument.
- At that time, a check for $200, payable to “LCHS MPA” is due. You will need to hand in the check before you can take the instrument.
- If you are renting 2 instruments, the second instrument is $100.
Concert Wear Fittings
Thursday, August 30th
Fittings will be on Thursday, August 30th during regular Orchestra rehearsal time. Orchestra Reps will measure for size and order clothing. No payment is required for fitting. A future payment and pick up date for Concert Wear will be scheduled.
Please try on your orchestra dresses and suits this week to be sure all required clothing fits and all pieces are present, cleaned, and ready for the season. If you need another size or are missing items, please speak to the Orchestra Concert Wear Reps on Thursday.
We order coordinated concert clothing from Southeastern Clothing. The prices for new concert wear are expected to be similar to last year. Please contact Ms. Munday if financial assistance is requested.
Men (all items required):
- Tuxedo Jacket: $65
- Pants: $30
- Vest: $45
- Tie: $10
Payment is NOT needed for fitting, but will be required prior to picking up items. A future pick up date will be scheduled. Payment can be cash or check payable to “LCHS MPA,” with “concert wear” noted in check memo.
Returns and Exchanges:
New Items: If a new item does not fit, we will return/reorder at no cost. Please note that concert wear is loose, NOT custom fitted clothing – hemming needs to be provided by student/family.
Return Concert Wear Discount: If a continuing student needs a new size, which is not in our pre-owned inventory, their professionally cleaned, usable clothing can be returned to the Concert Wear Representatives and their new clothing order will be discounted at 40%.
Slightly Used Concert Wear: Students may exchange professionally cleaned, gently used items for another size at no cost if that size is available in our limited in-house stock of almost new clothing.
If you have questions, please contact our Concert Wear Representatives Gayle Wilkinson and Lori Silverman.
We are officially in the Orchestra groove. Everyone has an instrument and we are getting used to being awake for zero period. I actually had a student come up to me this week and tell me that she was glad to have orchestra first thing in the morning because it was a great way to start the day! I agree!
It was great to see you at the parent meeting last Monday night. Mr. Stone, Mr. Myers, and I are so grateful to all of you and the incredible support that you provide to the program. You are the wind beneath our wings!
What a busy first full week of school! The Orchestra has been working hard in the early hours, Marching Band and Guard performed wonderfully at the football game and the band provided the music for the smash hit “Musical Chairs” during the assembly. What a great start to the school year! So many more great things to come!
Thank you all for attending the MPA informational meeting on Monday night. It was a great turnout and hopefully gave all of you insight into how you can be a part of this great community of music supporters. While many think it’s the kids having all the fun, many parents, past and present, will confirm that the parents have more fun being a part of the process throughout the year and working together to help make LC music an amazing experience for everyone. Come be a part of the fun and experience!
Meet & Greet Kick Off Meeting & Party

325 Blythe Rd.
Mrs. Munday will be there! We will discuss an outing to see a LACO concert with Hillary Hahn at the Alex Theatre in September, activity calendar for orchestra, volunteer opportunities, and more. Come ready to have your questions answered and to meet fellow orchestra parents.
