Holiday Open House – 9-12 Orchestra

MPA parent and realtor, Monika Song, invites you to a Christmas Pot Luck Party to fundraise for the LCHS Instrumental Music Program!
  • Time: 4:30-8pm
  • Address: 10046 La Canada Way, Shadow Hills 91040
  • Dress: holiday attire – ladies can wear something danceable
  • Things to Bring: your favorite dishes to share; two chairs if you have them
  • Program:
    • LCHS Orchestra performance at 6pm
    • holiday art show and paintings sale
    • professional model coaching catwalk class 5:30-6
    • dance show: salsa class, 7-8 folk dance, tango class
    • All night Karaoke and cards!
    • There will also be a telescope observatory with a rotating dome and large 10″ telescope to check out, too!

Montrose Christmas Parade – 9-12 Marching Spartans & 7/8 Color Guard

  • 5:15pm: Call time for 9-12 Marching Spartans and 7/8 Color Guard
  • Students should be dropped off at the corner of Honolulu and La Crescenta Ave. for parade staging.
  • Full uniform – NO SHAKO – festive holiday hats are encouraged.
  • Students should take instruments and uniforms after school on Friday.
  • Instrument cases and/or flag bags should be left in the car – we will not return to the staging area.
  • Dismissal is at the end of the parade which is at the corner of Honolulu and Ocean View.

    • Parent helpers needed to add silver chains to the shakos during rehearsal in the uniform room.

  • 9-12 Band Concert Wear Fittings: 1st & 3rd periods.

Away Football Game

    • Band shirts & jeans/shorts
  • 5:30pm: Bus Departs
  • 7pm: Game time
  • Approximately 10pm: Return to LCHS/unload

Jazz Band Auditions

Jazz Band Tryouts continue this week. Auditions are held during break, STEP, or lunch (and some after school).

Fill out the form linked here to audition.

We will be holding rehearsals in the fall during STEP (1,3,5) and in the winter we will add a night rehearsal (Wednesdays, 6:30-9:00 pm).

Audition requirements:

  • Scales
  • Prepared Piece (anything you have)
  • Sight Reading
  • Improv on C Jam Blues (optional)

L.A. County Fair – 9-12 Marching Spartans

  • Students dismissed from classes at Break
  • 10:30am: Load truck/Bus
    • Gather items needed for parade:
      • Instruments
      • Uniform
      • Please wear lightweight shorts and band shirt under uniform.
      • Shako
      • Gloves
      • Long black socks
      • Marching Shoes
  • 11am: Depart LCHS
  • 12pm: Arrive at the Fair
  • 3:30pm: Meet back at the bus/Change into uniform/Warm-up
  • 4:30pm: Line up for parade
  • 5pm: Parade
  • 6pm: Back at bus/change/load truck
  • 7:30pm: Depart Fair
  • 8:30pm: Return to LCHS

Thursday, September 5th

Home Football Game – 7/8 Night!

    • Leave cases in the car – we won’t be returning to LCE
    • Full Uniform – no shako/gloves
    • Sunscreen!
  • 9am: Memorial Park Service
  • Proceed to parade staging after service ends

  • 10am: 7/8 Band Call Time at the parking garage at the corner of Foothill and Cornishon
    • Band T-Shirt and Shorts

We need four cases of water bottles dropped off at Memorial Park on Monday Morning prior to the service. Please let Sandy know if you’re able to provide.

Club LC – May 10th

Club LC tickets are now available online!

We’re only 5 days away from this fun, relaxed, evening of music and dancing, Friday, May 10th from 6:45 to 10:30pm.

Please join us for an evening of tunes performed by our very own Jazz Band and Chamber Singers!

This event usually sells out, so order early!

Volunteers are needed to set up during the event, and to clean up afterwards! Please sign up for a 1/2 hour slot.
