Time Commitments

Classroom / Practice Schedule:
  • ​Students are required to register for Band class (usually first period)
  • Counts as Physical Education credit
Marching Band:
  • Mini Camp first week of summer Monday – Thursday
  • Evening rehearsals on Tuesday/Thursday from 5:30pm-8:30pm
  • One Saturday morning rehearsal
  • Band Camp – last two weeks of summer vacation
Symphonic Band
  • Occasional zero-period or evening rehearsals in preparation for special concerts or festivals

  • Preview Show (last day of Band Camp, family and friends invited to see the progress)
  • Los Angeles County Fair Parade (early September)
  • Halftime performance – home LCHS football games

The LCHS Marching Spartans

The 109-member Marching Band, Pit Percussion (Front Ensemble), and Auxiliary (Color Guard) perform at LCHS football games, march in the La Canada Fiesta Days and Montrose Christmas parades, and compete in Division 4A in the Western Band Association. After completion of the Fall Field Season, students shift to Symphonic Band, which performs multiple concerts throughout the winter and spring seasons.
