Time Commitments

Classroom / Practice Schedule:
  • ​Students are required to register for Band class (usually first period)
  • Counts as Physical Education credit
>Marching Band:
  • Occasional zero-period rehearsals during fall field season on 1-3-5 block days
  • Evening rehearsals on Tuesday/Thursday from 5:30pm-8:30pm
  • Occasional Saturday morning rehearsal
  • Band Workshops – first week of summer vacation and week before Band Camp
  • Band Camp – last week of summer vacation
>Symphonic Band
  • Occasional zero-period or evening rehearsals in preparation for special concerts or festivals

The LCHS Marching Spartans

The 81-member Marching Band, Pit Percussion (Front Ensemble), and Auxiliary (Color Guard) perform at LCHS football games, march in the La Canada Fiesta Days and Montrose Christmas parades, and compete in Division 3A in the Western Band Association. After completion of the Fall Field Season, students shift to Symphonic Band, which performs multiple concerts throughout the winter and spring seasons.
