As remote learning continues, the Orchestra keeps on keeping on! For example, this semester we have discussed and practiced several important string (wind) playing techniques that are related to the pieces we are learning. These techniques are: tone production, long bows (breaths), intonation practice with a drone, and playing loud and soft vibrato.

This week, we will begin to learn about spiccato, that is, bowing off the string. We will need this technique to record the arranged piece from Henry Thuss, Dumbledore’s Army.

Thank you for your support! I look forward to the time when we can all be together again.
