Commitment to hard work, learning from mistakes, and seeking the best information all help in every stage of making music. The highs and lows, challenges, and goals achieved are the constant carrot that is before every musician and drives us to be better. Better isn’t perfect. Better is just improving little by little knowing that each step gets you closer to a great performance. It’s the thing I love about music and teaching. All the hard work always pays off. Great for music. Great for life! Have a great week!
You are all cordially invited to the Fall Orchestra Concert this Wednesday, October 30th at 7pm in the LCHS auditorium. Admission is free. The students have worked very hard and sound great! There is music from Rossini and Beethoven. Contemporary composer Maria Newman and film composers Alan Silvestri and Danny Elfman are also represented. You won’t want to miss all the surprises!
I have talked to the orchestra students and asked them to bring their parents, friends and neighbors to the concert. If each student could bring 2 people, we would have a great audience which really ups the energy on stage! The orchestras sound so good, and you will be so proud of your children to hear them play in such wonderful ensembles.
Have a wonderful week and see you Wednesday evening at the concert!
If your student is interested in auditioning for the SCSBOA Honor Orchestra, information about registering for an audition, audition scales, and orchestra excerpts are at SCSBOA.org.
This year, we will be offering translations of the weekly communication emails in Chinese and Korean. If you are interested in receiving these emails, please contact Sandy Miller, and indicate which language you would prefer.
The Spartan Boosters Club has been a big and generous supporter of the LCHS Instrumental Music Program. Boosters raised the funds to help transform the music room into a recording studio, helped decal the instrumental music truck, and provides an annual support donation. Now, they need our help.
All they’re asking is for you to come and have a great time at BoostOberfest this Saturday, October 26th, 6-11pm. It’s going to be an incredibly fun event with authentic catered German food from a top German restaurant, open bar, and a top live Oktoberfest band, even a Stein Holding competition… All hosted under the stars at the beautiful Matarese residence in La Canada. A portion of the of the Auction proceeds will directly support the Instrumental Music Program.
Please come and invite all your friends to support the Boosters. They support us. This is not just for LCHS parents. The Boosters are building this to be a major annual event for La Canada!
The best way to get tickets is to join Boosters at the Spartan Club level ($400 per year) or above. This gets you two tickets to BoostOberfest, two passes to all home football and basketball games, and you can designate up to $100 of your donation to Music or any three programs Boosters supports.
Go to their website and click on “Join” to become a Booster and click on “Events” to purchase tickets for BoostOberfest.
Thanks in advance for your support! I hope to see you there!
This Friday, October 25th, is Senior Night at the home football game vs. Monrovia. All Seniors and their parents will be introduced during pre-game.
Volunteers Needed
Parent helpers are needed to help set up and serve the Senior Dinner to all Band/Guard students. Set-up will begin at 4:30pm under the tent in front of the North Gym. Dinner will be served at 5pm.
If you are available and willing, please contact Nadia Ali.
Senior Parents
Parents will need to arrive by 6:20pm and we will head out to the field from the North Gym. In the past, the High School asked everyone to pay admission, so please take care of that prior to line up. It’s for a good cause 🙂
