Club LC

Wow! What a wonderful night! Club LC was the best! Many thanks to the students, staff, parents and families (instrumental and choral) for all their time and efforts!

Mr. Stone’s Thought of the Week

Congratulations to our Drum Line for an amazing season of performance, and above all, building musical skills while putting on a great show. You should all be proud of your season and hard work. On to the fall!

This Friday, probably my favorite gigs that the Instrumental Music Program puts on, Club LC will be happening. If you haven’t been, it’s a dinner dance with the Jazz Band and guest singers from the Chamber Singers. It’s a wonderful evening of fun and music. If you have been before, the venue has changed and we are now at La Cañada Presbyterian Church. Come one… Come all!

And if that’s not enough for you… next week the All-School Musical Guys and Dolls opens up on Thursday night.

April is a non-stop celebration of the arts at LCHS. Come join the party!

Ms. Munday’s News and Notes…

Last Wednesday evening, there was a wonderful string chamber music concert in the choir room. Under the tutelage of Stacy Wetzel, these students performed several string quartets. Thank you to those students who performed! You all have experienced first-hand the fun of playing chamber music! The performing students were:
  • Claire C., Alice H., Alexis S., Elise W.: violin
  • Cherlynn H., Michael S.: viola
  • Jasmine G., Ana S.: cello
Bravo!!

Thank you to the students who came and listened to the performance. Also, many thanks to Mick Wetzel and Richard Allen, who performed with the students. I am already looking forward to the chamber music program for next year!

Speaking of string quartets and performances, the above groups volunteered to play at the Art Show opening last Tuesday. We also had a wonderful string quartet performing for open house, and they will also be playing for the Les Tupper awards at JPL on Monday. These students are:

  • Claire C., Lisa T.: violin
  • Cherlynn H.: viola
  • Jared C.: cello

Ms. Munday’s News & Notes

Ah, Spring Break! Always wonderful! After having the luxury of a lot of rain this winter, I was anxious to get into nature and enjoy! We went to the Poppy Reserve in the Antelope Valley, hiked in the San Gabriels, and walked around Descanso Gardens. Great!

I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow as we continue practicing for the Concerto Concert on Friday, May 5th.

Here are a few announcements about upcoming events:

  • This Wednesday, April 5th at 7pm in the Choir Room, is the String Chamber Music Concert. These students have been working since January with Stacy Wetzel for this performance and I encourage everyone to come and hear them. Orchestra students will receive extra credit points for attending. Please come and bring your friends!
  • There is a new date and time for the Dress Rehearsal of the Concerto Concert. Please change it in your calendars to Wednesday, May 3 from 5pm to 8pm. We are trying to be sensitive to the students studying for AP exams and not have a late rehearsal. Please check this time out with your student and let me know ASAP if they have a conflict.
  • There will be an Art Show of student works this Tuesday, April 4th from 5pm to 8pm in the Auditorium Foyer. Many of the music students will be playing for this event. Come see and hear art!
